Rabat – Morocco’s Industry and Trade Minister Ryad Mezzour hosted Bruno Le Maire, French Minister of Economy, Finance, Industrial Sovereignty, and Digital Affairs, on Friday at his ministry’s headquarters in Rabat.

The two officials discussed strengthening bilateral industrial cooperation in key sectors.

The meeting, which was also attended by Christophe Lecourtier, French Ambassador to Morocco, focused on exploring cooperation opportunities in a wide range of essential industrial areas, including electric battery manufacturing, automobiles, and green hydrogen.

Emphasis was placed on the importance of enhancing economic and trade cooperation as a key axis for strengthening the strategic partnership and achieving industrial integration between Morocco and France, said the Moroccan ministry of industry in a statement.

Minister Mezzour told the press following the meeting that discussions with the French Minister of Economy and Finance were “very fruitful.”

“We discussed industrial integration between France and Morocco, particularly in the automotive industry, especially in battery manufacturing, in order to keep pace with and integrate into the new industrial era,” he said.

Mezzour highlighted the significance of the industrial platform for the Moroccan automotive industry, emphasizing its role as a hub of strong French investments and a symbol of industrial integration between Morocco and France.

He noted that the platform embodies the aspirations of both countries to strengthen their industrial ties and maximize the benefits for both parties.

“There is a unity of vision between the two countries for the development of the integrated industrial platform,” he stressed.

Meanwhile, Le Maire emphasized the potential for close cooperation between France and Morocco in specific industrial areas, such as automobile manufacturing, hydrogen, and carbon-neutral energy.

He underlined the opportunities for collaboration in all these sectors, saying that “there is lots of room for close cooperation between the two countries.”
