Huawei Technologies, a leading global ICT (information and communications) infrastructure and smart terminal provider, has announced the launch of three innovative data storage solutions designed to empower operators in building cutting-edge data infrastructure for the AI era.
These solutions were unveiled at the 2024 Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona from February 26-29, the company said in a statement, adding that these solutions include a Data Intelligence Solution, a Comprehensive Data Protection Solution, and a Full-stack Data Center Solution (DCS).
The Data Intelligence Solution addresses the challenges of aggregating independent and scattered data sources into AI data factories, enabling the extraction of knowledge from data and improving the efficiency of data collection, preprocessing, and training. It includes the Data Management Engine (DME), a one-stop tool for generating knowledge (eDataMate), a Data Mesh, and AI OceanStor A800 and A310 storage solutions.
The AI OceanStor A800, a high-performance NAS storage solution, is built on a separation-of-planes data and control architecture and features a high-performance parallel file system (OceanFS). It offers flexible bidirectional expansion capabilities, making it an ideal platform for real-time hyper-cluster planning.
Meanwhile, the Comprehensive Data Protection Solution addresses the challenges of data production, backup, and archiving, enhancing the resilience of data assets. This solution utilizes a two-tier deployment approach, combining production-backup collaboration and backup-archiving collaboration.
The former ensures rapid backup of massive small files and supports real-time native data analysis, while the latter reduces bandwidth consumption by 80% through post-deduplication hierarchization.

Huawei also introduced the OceanProtect E8000 and X9000 backup device solutions and the next-generation magneto-optical storage solution, OceanStor Arctic, designed for cold and warm data storage. This solution aims to reduce total cost of ownership (TCO) by 20% compared to tapes and cut energy consumption by 90% compared to hard disk drives.
The Full-stack Data Center Solution (DCS) is a comprehensive infrastructure solution that covers data collection, storage, calculation, management, and usage, offering a complete IaaS and PaaS service. It is based on virtualization and container technology, providing a full-stack service that includes data collection, storage, calculation, management, and usage.
Dr. Peter Zhou, President of Huawei’s Data Storage Product Line, emphasized the importance of data in the AI era and Huawei’s commitment to providing storage solutions for various scenarios, helping operators build a leading data infrastructure for the AI era.
With the commercial launch of the 5.5G network this year, Huawei is collaborating with global operators and partners to drive exciting new innovations in networks, cloud, and intelligence, fostering the growth of the 5G business and promoting a thriving industrial ecosystem for digital transformation.
These new solutions from Huawei showcase the company’s dedication to advancing the data storage landscape in the era of AI, and they represent a significant step forward in the development of a robust and resilient digital infrastructure.
With the increasing importance of data in today’s digital age, these innovations are expected to have a lasting impact on the industry, enabling businesses to better manage and leverage their data assets for competitive advantage.
