Rabat – Moroccan designer Hicham Lahlou was spotlighted in the international scene with his latest showcase at the Salone Del Mobile 2024 exhibition in Milan, Italy slated for April 16-21.

Known for his innovative and meticulously crafted creations, Lahlou unveiled his new collections exclusively handmade in Fez, Morocco.

Among the highlights of Lahlou’s exhibition are the “Clover Ottomans – Clover Leaf Poufs” and the “ZAHA” teapot, paying homage to the late Zaha Hadid, both of which received considerable attention from visitors and industry leaders.

Lahlou’s presence at the event marks another milestone in his career and cements his reputation as a world-class designer. Since 2011, he has been a regular artist featured every year in the Milan event, earning widespread recognition for his creations.

Lahlou received his first international accolades when he ranked among the top 15 emerging designers globally by the renowned Italian magazine Interni in 2011.

Over the years, he has collaborated with influential figures in the industry and showcased his work at prominent events, including the African and Latin American Emergent Design Exhibition, which takes place in various locations, garnering worldwide acclaim.

In 2019, Lahlou collaborated with Italian benchmark magazine Citco to publish his creation Africa Sound, a collection of artwork dedicated to Africa. Through the collaboration, Lahlou joined a long list of world-class designers including Zaha Hadid and the Campana Brothers who have been featured in the magazine.

He equally participated in events such as the Italian Design Day alongside esteemed colleagues from Politecnico Di Torino, a renowned Italian art institution.

In recognition of his outstanding contributions to design, Lahlou was honored during the 60th anniversary of the Salone Del Mobile in 2022.

Beyond his achievements on the global stage, Lahlou’s creation reflects his deeply-rooted Moroccan and African identity. As a member of the World Design Organization (WDO), Lahlou represents Africa on the global stage.
