Rabat – The video game business in Morocco is projected to increase at an annual rate of 9.39% between 2024 and 2027, resulting in sales of $227.3 million (almost MAD 2.28 billion) in 2024 and $297.5 million (almost MAD 2.98 billion) by 2027, according to the German statistics website Statista.
The North African country will be home to 8.4 million video game players by 2027, with a user penetration rate of 19.5% in 2024 and 21.2% in 2027, the website revealed.
With a projected market value of $105 million (or around MAD 1.05 billion) in 2024, downloadable games represent the largest segment of the video game business in Morocco.
China’s video game industry is expected to generate $94.49 billion by the end of this year, the largest amount worldwide. By comparison, the average revenue per user (ARPU) in the Moroccan video game market is expected to reach $30.22 (MAD 303.49) during the same period.
The video game market encompasses all the businesses that are engaged in the production, development, publishing, distribution, and commercialization of video games, Statista explained.
A vast variety of items are included in this industry, such as internet, mobile, console, and PC games. It also includes hardware and accessories such as game consoles, controllers, and virtual reality headsets.
Millions of people play video games globally, and the business is expected to produce billions of dollars in revenue annually.
This expanding industry is divided into a number of several different markets, including cloud gaming, mobile gaming, and internet gaming. According to Statista, the industry’s major sources of revenue are in-game purchases, in-game consumer spending, and subscription fees are the sources of revenue.

The major participants in the industry include Activision (Call of Duty), PUBG Mobile, and GeForce Now.
In October of last year, founder and CEO of Proxy Planet, a Korean firm that is a global leader in the gaming and e-sports sectors, Young Mok Park, visited the Kingdom to inquire about potential investment prospects in the industry.
Park was received in Rabat by Morocco’s Minister of Youth, Culture, and Communication, Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, with the goal of broadening Morocco’s reach in the business.
Discussions revolved around the thriving video game sector, emphasizing its enormous importance in terms of worldwide earnings.
