Rabat – A group of 86 Moroccans and their families residing in Gaza were evacuated to Egypt via the Rafah border crossing on Tuesday.
Moroccan news agency MAP has reported that the operation was conducted under the direct supervision of Morocco’s ambassador to Egypt Mohamed Ait Ouali, in coordination with Egyptian security authorities.
Several beneficiaries have expressed satisfaction with the evacuation process, conveying their gratitude to King Mohammed VI, MAP added.
Previously, Moroccan embassies in Egypt and Palestine had jointly conducted a series of evacuation operations for 375 Moroccan nationals and their families residing in Gaza via the Rafah crossing.
In February, Morocco’s Foreign Affairs Ministry announced the evacuation of 289 Moroccans from Palestine through the Rafah crossing by the end of January.
The ministry also reassured concerned citizens that no deaths have been reported among the Moroccan community in Gaza.
However, the same source added that one of the expatriates has suffered serious injuries.
Gaza has been under siege with the merciless brutal war launched by Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) since October 7.
Despite the holy month of Ramadan and Eid Al Fitr, one of the holiest celebrations in Islam, Israeli forces continued their relentless aggression, and have to date killed over 33,300 civilians — the majority of whom were women and children.
As many as 76,000 others have been injured, while over 8,000 are missing.
On Monday, Morocco reiterated concerns about the situation in Gaza, once again demanding a sustainable ceasefire in the region.
In addition to destroying buildings and killing defenseless civilians, Israel has also blocked the entry of humanitarian aid, causing famine across Gaza.
