Rabat – Palestine supporters worldwide are gearing up to mark “Al-Quds Day” today as Israel’s assaults on Gaza and the occupied West Bank persist, amplifying the urgency of solidarity amidst escalating violences.
Al-Quds Day, observed annually on the last Friday of Ramadan, serves as a poignant reminder of the ongoing struggle for Palestinian liberation in the face of Israeli occupation.
Established in 1979 by Iran’s first supreme leader, Ruhollah Khomeini, in the wake of the Iranian Revolution, Al-Quds Day has evolved into a global rallying cry against the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories.
As the solemn occasion coincides with the holy month of Ramadan this year, supporters worldwide are poised to take to the streets following communal Friday prayers to express unwavering support for Palestine.
Iran, a staunch advocate for Palestinian rights, has been at the forefront of Al-Quds Day observances, using the occasion to denounce Israeli aggression and advocate for international solidarity.
The event, while rooted in religious significance, has transcended borders to become a symbol of unity and resistance against oppression.
From Pakistan to Lebanon, Iraq to Yemen, and beyond, mass protests and rallies are expected to echo the call for justice for Palestine.

In Western countries, including the United States and the United Kingdom, solidarity demonstrations are anticipated, underscoring the global resonance of the Palestinian cause.
Demonstrations may also occur in countries such as Morocco, India, Bahrain, South Africa, and others, according to Crisis24, a global intelligence group.
However, amidst the fervent displays of solidarity, the grim reality of the situation in Gaza casts a somber shadow. The latest report from the Palestinian Ministry of Health paints a dire picture of the humanitarian crisis unfolding in the besieged enclave.
With over 33,000 deaths and 75,668 injuries since October 7, Gaza faces an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe exacerbated by a severe shortage of food and essential supplies.
In northern Gaza, where the impact of the Israeli onslaught has been particularly acute, residents are grappling with dire conditions, with many surviving on less than 250 calories a day, according to a report by Oxfam.
