Rabat – Morocco’s National Railways Office (ONCF) has announced that more trains, up to 240 daily, will be scheduled as part of a “Special Eid Al-Fitr” transport plan from April 5 to 16, according to a press release from ONCF.
This plan is meant to ensure travelers the most comfortable and safe travel conditions possible, the Office said, noting the high volume of traveling during the Eid week.
For Al Boraq (high-speed train) services, ONCF said that it intends to expand the number of seats available in the busiest time slots and launch an all-day service connecting Tangier with Kenitra, Rabat, and Casablanca from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. on peak days.
ONCF will also provide more seats and schedule more trains on Al Atlas’ major rail network routes, namely Marrakech, Casablanca, Fez, Oujda, Nador, Khouribga, and Safi.
According to the press release, this transport plan also includes the reinforcement of the teams in charge of welcoming and assisting passengers at stations and on board trains, in addition to the technical teams that will be mobilized non-stop to ensure the smooth running of the trains.
Customers are advised to book tickets in advance to facilitate travel planning during this peak travel period. Purchasing a return ticket will also help ensure a seat on trains and prevent queuing at stations.
Tickets are available for purchase through the following sales channels: the ONCF online portal, ticket offices and automated ticket machines in stations, local sales partners such as Cash Plus, Barid Cash, and Tasshilat.
The number of trains will be reduced on Eid, and passengers are invited to consult the train timetables for the whole period via the ONCF portal, the Customer Relations Centre: 2255 (cost of local call), the ONCF TRAFIC app for real-time information on the traffic situation, and the M’ONCF chatbot.
