Rabat- Morocco international Yassine Bounou has been named the Best Goalkeeper in the Saudi Pro League for the 2023-2024 season, crowning his stellar, league-winning performances with Al-Hilal.
In an announcement on X (formerly Twitter), the Saudi Professional League honored Bounou for an impressive season that included 15 clean sheets and only 20 goals conceded in 31 appearances.
Al-Hilal’s official social media accounts also posted statements in celebration of Bounou’s remarkable achievement, showering the Moroccan keeper with praise and dubbing him the “Great Wall.”

For many football watchers and fans of the Saudi league, this nickname perfectly captures Bounou’s commanding presence in goal. Throughout the season, the Moroccan consistently thwarted opposition attacks with his exceptional reflexes, positioning, and command of his area.
Bounou stood guard for Al-Hilal in 31 matches, making 62 saves with an impressive 75% save rate, the highest among goalkeepers with over 10 appearances. He only let in 20 goals during this period, showcasing his exceptional goalkeeping skills. In addition, he boasts the best goals conceded per match ratio of 0.64 among goalkeepers with over 10 appearances during the season.
The Moroccan international has consistently impressed since moving to the Saudi Pro League. He won the Best Goalkeeper of the Month award three times – in October, November, and February – the highest number among all goalkeepers in the league.
Last December, Yassine Bounou achieved another significant milestone in his career by winning the CAF Award for the Best Male Player of the Year.
