Rabat – Morocco and France signed a partnership agreement on Friday in Rabat to boost cooperation in the Cultural and Creative Industries (CCI), with a specific focus on the video game sector.
The agreement was signed during the inaugural Morocco Gaming Expo, highlighting the growing importance of gaming within the country’s creative landscape.
Signed by Abdelaziz El Bouzdaini, Secretary General of Morocco’s Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication, and Christophe Lecourtier, the French Ambassador, the deal outlines plans for collaboration in areas such as training, incubation, and market access.
Minister Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid emphasized the importance of these initiatives in establishing a robust video game industry in Morocco.
“This partnership with the French embassy will contribute to the development of the gaming industry in Morocco,” he said.
The agreement aims to establish incubators that will provide Moroccan startups and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with the necessary support to compete on a global scale.
This includes training programs and resources to help them navigate the international market and attract potential investors.
French Ambassador Lecourtier acknowledged Morocco’s dedication to the gaming sector and expressed France’s enthusiasm for the partnership.
He believes this collaboration will allow both countries to share expertise and resources, fostering innovation and creativity within the CCI sector.
“This agreement presents a valuable opportunity for France and Morocco to collaborate in promoting cultural and creative industries, particularly the video game sector,” Lecourtier remarked.
The presence of French companies at the Morocco Gaming Expo signifies their interest in working with Moroccan partners. Ambassador Lecourtier highlighted their willingness to connect and collaborate on future projects.
