Rabat – Morocco and France renewed their commitment to continue boosting cooperation at all levels, including in the fields of cultural and creative industries.

The two countries expressed this commitment in Paris today as part of a Moroccan delegation’s visit to Paris to take part in the African Cultural Week of UNESCO.

Morocco’s Minister of Culture Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid reaffirmed his country’s determination during talks with his French counterpart Rachida Dati, with whom he discussed advancing cultural cooperation between Rabat and Paris.

Commenting on the discussion, Dati told the press that Morocco demonstrates that “it has things to teach us” through its culture and values of hospitality, tolerance, respect, and creativity.

“We will continue this cooperation, and we have decided to meet again very soon in Morocco because we have enough material to amplify this dynamic,” the French official said.

The two officials focused on discussions covering the museum sector and preventive archaeology as well as cinema.

Bensaid said that his visit to Paris is within the framework of the friendship between Morocco and France.

The meeting also serves as an opportunity to continue boosting partnerships and friendships through different conventions, and agreements as well as the joint organization of conferences.

The meeting comes after a bilateral discussion last week on Saturday in Cannes when both officials stressed the importance of boosting ties and cultural cooperation between the two countries.

In addition to covering the cinema and museum industries, the meeting today also discussed the promotion of the Moroccan gaming industry and the benefits it can gain from French expertise.

The UNESCO event today was attended by Morocco’s ambassador to Paris Samira Sitail.
