Rabat – On Wednesday, pilgrims flocked towards Al Masjid Al Haram to perform Tawaf Al Wadaa (the Farewell Tawaf), marking the conclusion of the Hajj pilgrimage following the symbolic stoning of the Jamarat of the third of Tashriq.
On this day, the 13th of Dou Al Hijja, pilgrims performed the stoning ritual at the three Jamarat, similar to the preceding two days.
Afterward, they departed from the Mina site, located 6 km from Al Masjid Al Haram, and headed towards Mecca to perform the Farewell Tawaf around the holy Kaaba.
This rite is to be performed after the completion of Hajj, where pilgrims are directed to circle the Holy Kaaba seven times.
Pilgrims in haste left Mina on Tuesday for Mecca to fulfill this Tawaf, thereby concluding their Hajj pilgrimage.
According to Saudi authorities, the Hajj this year saw participation from more than 1.8 million pilgrims, with 1.6 million arriving from abroad.
“The Hajj of 1445 has achieved success across all aspects,” stated Prince Saud bin Mishal bin Abdulaziz, vice governor of the Makkah region and vice president of the Hajj central committee.
The vice governor highlighted that the success of the Hajj operation was due to the resources provided by Saudi Arabia to pilgrims throughout this year’s pilgrimage.
He added that the careful planning and execution of the Hajj pilgrimage, along with dedicated efforts to accommodate and ensure the safety of pilgrims, were instrumental in achieving the successful completion of the rituals.
During Hajj 1445, pilgrims endured sweltering heat as they performed sacred rituals.
Saudi authorities stated that they have treated over 2,000 pilgrims experiencing heat-related ailments.
