Agadir – Thunderstorms accompanied by a risk of hail and strong wind gusts, along with a heatwave, are expected to affect several provinces across Morocco from Tuesday through Friday, according to the General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM).
In an orange-level weather alert, the DGM forecast thunderstorms bringing rainfall of between 20 and 35 millimeters, accompanied by hail and strong wind gusts for Tuesday from 1 p.m. to 11 p.m.
The affected provinces include Khenifra, Beni Mellal, Khouribga, Taroudant, Fquih Ben Saleh, Chichaoua, Ouarzazate, Ifrane, Azilal, Al Haouz, Tinghir, Midelt, and Boulemane.
The weather conditions could bring localized heavy rainfall, hail and strong winds, particularly during thunderstorms, prompting authorities to urge residents in affected areas to remain cautious.
Meanwhile, a heatwave with temperatures ranging between 45°C and 48°C is expected from Wednesday through Friday in the provinces of Aousserd, Oued Ed-Dahab, Boujdour, Assa-Zag, Es-Semara, and Tata.
The combination of severe thunderstorms in some areas and extreme temperatures in others is expected to create challenging weather conditions across parts of Morocco through the end of the week.
