Rabat – Morocco’s National Road Safety Agency (NARSA) has issued a comprehensive advisory ahead of the Eid Al Adha holidays, urging road users to exercise heightened caution amid expected heavy traffic and challenging weather conditions.
This advisory comes as the General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM) issued alerts for strong winds and local dust storms affecting several provinces during the weekend leading up to eid.
According to the DGM’s weather alert, strong wind gusts ranging from 75 to 85 kilometers per hour are expected from Friday evening to early Saturday morning in provinces including Ouarzazate, Zagora, Tata, Tinghir, and Errachidia.
In addition, wind gusts between 80 and 90 km/h are forecasted on Saturday from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm in provinces such as Midelt, Taourirt, Guercif, Boulemane, Tinghir, Zagora, Errachidia, Figuig, Berkane, Jerada, and Oujda-Angad.
These weather conditions pose significant challenges to road safety as they could potentially reduce visibility and increase the risk of accidents, especially on national roads and highways.
NARSA emphasized the importance of adhering to road safety measures, including respecting speed limits, maintaining safe distances, and ensuring vehicles are equipped with functional headlights and windshield wipers during reduced visibility.

In anticipation of increased travel during Eid Al Adha, NARSA also advised drivers to conduct thorough mechanical checks on their vehicles before embarking on journeys. The agency stressed that critical components such as brakes, tires, and lights should be inspected to ensure optimal performance.
It also reminded passengers to wear seat belts at all times, as well as urged drivers to ensure that children under 10 years old are seated in the back with their seat belts fastened securely.
In addition, NARSA encouraged travelers to plan their routes in advance, considering potential traffic congestion and adverse weather conditions.
