Marrakech – In a pre-match press conference held in Agadir on Monday, Morocco’s national football coach, Walid Regragui, outlined his team’s objectives for the upcoming match against Congo Brazzaville.

The game, set to take place on Tuesday at the Agadir Grand Stadium, is part of the fourth round of the African qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup (Group E).

Regragui emphasized the importance of securing victory against Congo Brazzaville to maintain the team’s position at the top of Group E and edge closer to World Cup qualification.

“We must win the match against Congo Brazzaville and finish first in our group because the main objective is to qualify for the next World Cup,” he stated.

The coach expressed the team’s determination to intensify their offensive play to deliver the best possible performance.

“Our objective remains the three points from a victory, and we will try to combine quality of play with the result, especially since we are playing in front of our home crowd and under ideal conditions,” Regragui said.

Discussing player selection, Regragui noted the importance of finding the right balance to field the best players while also allowing time to optimize offensive strategies.

He highlighted the depth of quality on the team’s bench and his willingness to integrate players who demonstrate technical prowess.

Regarding specific players, Regragui mentioned that AS Monaco’s Eliesse Ben Seghir provides more balance in attack and expands the team’s offensive options.

In midfield, he identified Oussama El Azzouzi as a future prospect for the national team and noted that Sofiane Amrabet’s presence would bring athletic intensity to make a difference.

Regragui acknowledged the challenges of playing against a team with a low defensive block but emphasized the need for the players to find the right combinations and offensive tactics to create spaces and score goals.

He stressed the importance of concentration to secure the three points against Congo Brazzaville.

In their previous match last Friday in Agadir, the Atlas Lions secured a 2-1 victory over Zambia in the third round of the African qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup. Morocco currently leads Group E with 6 points, followed by Zambia, Niger, and Tanzania on 3 points each.
