Rabat – According to converging media reports, AS Monaco is interested in RC Lens midfielder Neil El Aynaoui, with an estimated bid of 15 and 20 million euros.
Despite his excellent performances in the just concluded season, El Aynaoui could leave RC Lens as early as this summer as the French club might be looking to capitalize on the strong widespread interest the midfielder has attracted in recent weeks.
According to football enthusiast Mohamed Toubache-Ter, AS Monaco is poised to make a move as it eyes El Aynaoui for the current transfer window. However, the French club faces competition from Premier League teams.
“English clubs inquire about Neil El Aynaoui. Monaco is still closely monitoring the youngster’s progress,” stated Toubache-Ter in a post on his X account
Following an impressive season, the versatile midfielder has attracted attention from several elite clubs, including AS Monaco.
Born in France, El Aynaoui is a youth international for Morocco. He joined the youth academy of Nancy when he was 8, and signed his first professional contract with the club on June 3, 2021.
Lens acquired him from AS Nancy on July 1, 2023, for a €600,000 transfer fee and he quickly made his mark at the top-tier French league club.
The player was a commanding and reliable presence in the Lens midfield in his debut Ligue 1 season, featuring in 32 matches across all competitions, including three in the Champions League.
His recent injury, a partially torn ligament in his left knee, might deter potential suitors in this summer transfer window. Meanwhile, the RC Lens hierarchy might opt to retain him, considering his modest cost and his significant contributions to the team’s performances.
