Rabat – The Minister of National Education, Chakib Benmoussa, revealed on Monday at the House of Representatives that over 493,000 candidates will take the national baccalaureate exam for the current academic year.
Of these candidates, 373,087 are enrolled students, with 87% in the public sector, and 54% are girls, demonstrating a notable representation of girls in the examination pool.
The minister further detailed that 73% of candidates are pursuing scientific and technical branches, while 26% are in literary branches. Also, 55% of candidates are enrolled in international programs.
Benmoussa emphasized the extensive preparations undertaken by his department. This includes setting up 1,833 examination centers, comprising over 28,000 examination rooms across all academic Moroccan regions.
A workforce of 40,000 examiners has been mobilized to facilitate the grading process.
In terms of examination materials, 765 subjects have been prepared for the two baccalaureate sessions, with 330 tailored for candidates with disabilities.
A ministerial decree regarding examination procedures has been issued to streamline the organizational aspects of the baccalaureate.
In efforts to deploy Morocco’s digital advancements, the ministry implemented electronic national identity card numbers onto baccalaureate certificates, bolstered examination security with electronic passcodes, and digitized the delivery of examination materials to regional education authorities.
Regarding cheating, the minister highlighted the conduction of awareness campaigns in educational institutions in coalition with regional and security authorities.
The active engagement with educational stakeholders, particularly families, has been emphasized to combat cheating effectively.
Benmoussa also underscored the ministry’s commitment to upholding the credibility and reliability of baccalaureate exams at both national and international scales.
Students have been adequately prepared throughout the year, with tailored learning environments, examination frameworks, and access to pedagogical and psychological support sessions.
As the baccalaureate 2024 approaches, the ministry states that it remains steadfast in its dedication to facilitating a fair, secure, and conducive examination environment for all candidates, while also ensuring a smooth transition into post-baccalaureate challenges for successful candidates.
A total of 245,109 candidates enrolled in public and private schools passed the normal session of the 2023 national standardized baccalaureate exam, recording a pass rate of 59.74%, according to data from the Ministry of National Education.
