Rabat – Malawi has reaffirmed support for Morocco’s territorial integrity and sovereignty over its southern provinces.
Madalitso Kwaderanji Kazombo, the First Vice-President of the East African country’s National Assembly, made these supportive remarks on Tuesday in Rabat following a meeting with Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Kazombo further stressed the importance of bilateral ties between the two countries, noting his country’s determination to benefit from Morocco’s experience in a wide range of fields, including agriculture.
He particularly stressed Morocco’s leadership in the fertilizer sector.
In the past decades, Morocco has been stressing the importance of boosting bilateral ties with African countries to serve the continent’s sustainable development goals.
The North African country has notably stressed its role as a gateway for diplomacy and south-south cooperation.
In a speech in 2022, Moroccan Foreign Minister said Morocco’s foreign policy is driven by a genuine desire to consolidate inter-African cooperation and promote pan-African solidarity in a wide range of strategic issues.
He also stressed Morocco’s determination to boost cooperation with African countries at all levels, including security, culture, and socio economic development.
In recent years, Morocco has frequently stressed the importance of a shared responsibility to address security threats, including terrorism.
About 60% of the world’s terrorist victims last year were in sub-Saharan Africa and West Africa, Bourita recalled earlier this month.
The top Moroccan diplomat made these remarks during a high-level meeting held in Fez, noting the urgency of using new technologies to address terror threats in Africa.
