Marrakech – Moroccan coach Houcine Ammouta has reached a final agreement with the leadership of AS FAR to take charge of the team starting from the upcoming season.
While AS FAR is yet to officially confirm the news, Qatari sports channel beIN Sports has announced that Houcine Ammouta will be taking over as the club’s new head coach, following the departure of Tunisian coach Nasreddine Nabi.
Ammouta’s decision to lead AS FAR comes after he recently parted ways with the Jordan Football Association, where he served as the head coach of the Jordanian national team since July 2023.
During his tenure, Ammouta achieved remarkable success, guiding the Nashama to their first-ever AFC Asian Cup final in Qatar.
He also successfully qualified the team for the final stages of the next AFC Asian Cup in 2027 and the third and final round of the Asian qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, set to take place in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
The Moroccan coach’s agreement with AS FAR follows the club’s recent setbacks, including a loss to Raja Casablanca in the Throne Cup final and finishing as runners-up in the Moroccan league, also behind Raja, despite leading the competition for several periods.
Ammouta’s appointment marks his return to a club he knows well, having previously led them to the Moroccan league title. The experienced coach was heavily linked with a move to UAE club Al Jazira SC, but he ultimately opted to continue his coaching career in his home country.
AS FAR will be looking to bounce back from a challenging season under the guidance of their new coach, who has a proven track record of success at both club and international levels.
