Rabat – From July 26 to August 2, Paris saw an influx of around 1.73 million tourists, coinciding with the first week of the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics.
According to the Paris Tourism Weekly Barometer, this number, reflecting an 18.9% increase from 2023, aligns with the broader visitor forecasts predicting an 8.5% rise in international air arrivals between the Olympics and the Paralympics (August 12-27) compared to the previous year.
Out of the total arrivals, 924,000 were international tourists, marking a 13.9% increase from 2023, while 803,000 were French tourists, representing a 25.1% rise compared to the previous year.
The report also highlighted that Parisian airports handled 100,000 passengers from July 24 to July 27, reflecting a 33% increase compared to the same period in 2023.
The highest number of arrivals was registered on Thursday, July 25, the day before the Olympic opening ceremony, with 29,000 travelers coming in.
The leading sources of international tourists were the United States, making up 14.7% of foreign visitors with 136,000 tourists, followed by Germany at 6.6% (61,000 tourists), Brazil at 5.5% (51,000 tourists), Great Britain at 5.1% (47,000 tourists), and Spain at 3.1% (28,000 tourists).

Morocco has experienced a mix of triumph and disappointment at the 2024 Olympics.
On the one hand, some Moroccan athletes achieved notable success: Soufiane El Bakkali made history by clinching a gold medal and becoming the first athlete to successfully defend his 3000m steeplechase title since Finland’s Volmari Iso-Hollo in 1936, and the national U-23 football team thrilled fans by clinching the bronze medal with a commanding 6-0 victory over Egypt.
Despite its achievements, Morocco’s sports performance this year was not at its best. With only two medals won, the country ranked among the lowest, prompting questions about the state of its sports programs.
