Rabat – On Monday, in Cairo, the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Acharif Agency provided the administration of Gaza’s Al-Azhar University with Cloud infractures and a comprehensive Learning Management System (LMS).
Based in Rabat, Bayt Mal Al-Quds Acharif Agency (BMAQ) is a humanitarian organization which is affiliated with the Al-Quds Committee of Arab and Islamic leaders headed by King Mohammed VI.
The IT handover ceremony, attended by the university president, faculty representatives, and students currently in Egypt, was a notable milestone in Morocco’s dedication to supporting Palestinians, particularly in the field of education.
This Moroccan assistance is part of a wider initiative to bolster the Palestinian education system in anticipation of the 2024-2025 academic year in the Gaza Strip.
The educational sector in the region, like many others, has been profoundly negatively impacted by the ongoing Israeli bloody massacres of civilians and bombardment of Gaza.
According to the Palestinian Ministry of Education, up to 280 government schools and 65 schools run by the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) have been destroyed or damaged.
Al-Azhar University in particular is one of the many universities whose campuses have been demolished by Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF), which has opened up the need for an E-learning platform such as the initiative by BMAQ.
Since October 7, the unyielding and murderous Israeli campaign has killed over 39,300 Palestinians and injured more than 90,000 others, with many more presumed to be deceased missing amongst the rubble.

At the event, Moroccan experts and their international partners showcased the capabilities of the new platform and cloud infrastructure to the university’s software and network engineers.
According to a statement from BMAQ, these technologies have been customized to address the institution’s specific needs. Gazan students wishing to continue their education must undergo insurmountable barriers during the IOF massacres. Additionally, a training workshop was held to demonstrate how to transfer and secure data on the new platform.
The workshop, which featured virtual participation from engineers and software specialists in Gaza, aimed to present new technologies for the secure and sustainable use of servers. Its focus was on ensuring data protection and improving educational efficiency for both courses and exams.
The university administration expects that over 18,000 students from its 12 faculties will benefit from the new platform. There is also hope that graduates from specialized programs will have opportunities to continue their studies abroad through academic exchange agreements.
Earlier this month, BMAQ inaugurated a summer school program for the year, serving over 4,000 children across 17 sites in Al-Quds (Jerusalem).
Titled “For the Promotion of Unity and Solidarity,” the initiative is backed by the agency’s “Children’s Club for Al-Quds” and financed by the Moroccan Cultural Center Association. The program offers 150 workshops focused on art, theater, balance games, and intellectual activities.
Under the leadership of King Mohammed VI, Morocco has been a vocal advocate for the Palestinian cause. As chairman of the Al-Quds committee, the Moroccan monarch has repeatedly condemned the violence and the killing of innocent Gazan civilians.
Morocco has also delivered significant humanitarian aid to Gaza, including two 40-ton shipments of medical supplies and other essential goods to help mitigate the crisis.
In his 25th Throne Day address, the King reaffirmed his concern for the situation in Gaza, emphasizing that the worsening conditions in the Palestinian enclave necessitate actions beyond mere crisis management.
