Rabat— The Moroccan Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform signed on Friday a significant partnership with the Research, Development, and Innovation Foundation in Science and Engineering (FRDISI) to enhance digital research and innovation.
The partnership seeks to bolster research and development in the digital field, fostering innovation and nurturing young talent. The agreement was signed in Rabat by Ghita Mezour, Minister of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, and Andre Azoulay, Chairman of the Board of FRDISI.
A central component of this partnership is the support for doctoral thesis projects in digital fields. Under the agreement, “18 doctoral thesis projects in digital fields will be supported with a monthly scholarship of 7,000 dirhams, along with ongoing assistance and guidance over a period of three years,” as confirmed by the ministry’s statement.
By collaborating closely with various stakeholders, the ministry aims to promote the integration of youth into future professions and encourage innovation. This initiative aligns with the vision of King Mohammed VI, who has emphasized the importance of cultivating a skilled workforce in the digital era and fostering a culture of innovation across all segments of society.
This partnership with FRDISI is part of Morocco’s ongoing efforts to address the skills gap in the digital sector. By investing in education and research, the country aims to increase the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) sector’s contribution to GDP from 3% to 11% and create approximately 125,000 new jobs.
The emphasis on doctoral research will not only enhance academic contributions but also create an environment where innovation can thrive.
