Sale's International Women’s Film Festival: 17th Edition to Kick Off September 23

Marrakech – The Bouregreg Association is rolling out the red carpet for the 17th International Women’s Film Festival in Sale, running from September 23-28.

This festival is a golden opportunity for women filmmakers from all corners of the globe; Arab, African, and international, to engage in vibrant discussions about their craft.

From sharing their experiences and expertise to tackling industry challenges and exploring women’s issues through cinematic achievements, this event is set to be a powerful platform for dialogue and discovery, as stated by the organizers.

This edition unfolds against a dynamic sociological backdrop, significantly impacting women’s roles in cinema and their on-screen representation.

Issues like violence, harassment, family protection, civil rights parity, and child and youth safeguarding are at the forefront.

According to the statement, recent films by female directors spotlight these critical topics, showcasing the vibrant evolution of Moroccan cinema and its responsiveness to societal concerns.

The festival aims to champion the constitutional progress that civil society is striving to implement, addressing pressing public debates on women’s rights, equality, and parity.

“By raising these issues, we also support the proposals made by the international films participating in the festival,” noted the statement, emphasizing the exchange of viewpoints and the growth of Moroccan cinematic experience.

It also highlighted that Hungarian cinema is the special focus for this 17th edition.

The program for this year draws its richness from the diverse cultural and artistic bridges the festival builds, according to the source.

The program agenda opens up to new horizons, providing a deep exploration of women’s cinematic concerns and enhances the recognition of their contributions.

Additionally, the festival will honor Egyptian actress Dalia El Beheri for her remarkable career in film and television, as well as Moroccan actress Saâdia Ladib for her notable contributions to cinema.
