Marrakech – Zineb Seghrouchni, the visionary behind DAR Cultural Agency, is shaking up the Dutch fashion scene as co-curator of a groundbreaking Moroccan fashion exhibition in Utrecht.

She’s on a mission to correct the Western stereotypes of Moroccan fashion, which often get stuck on “bling bling” and flashy decor.

Instead, Seghrouchni is spotlighting the intricate craftsmanship and the dynamic mix of traditional and modern design that truly defines Moroccan style.

Opening on October 3 at the Centraal Museum in Utrecht, this exhibition is set to flip the script on Moroccan fashion.

“Most people think of kaftans when they hear Moroccan fashion,” stated Seghrouchni, adding that, “But there’s so much more, including influences that parallel global fashion trends.”

With her Moroccan-Dutch heritage, Seghrouchni is not just redefining fashion but also spotlighting the vital role of Moroccans in the Netherlands.

From arts and economics to social initiatives, she’s keen to showcase the diverse contributions of the Moroccan community.

Her exhibition isn’t just about fashion; it’s a tribute to the broader impact of Moroccans on Dutch society.

According to Seghrouchni, there are now three or four generations of Moroccans in the Netherlands, making significant contributions across arts, economics, and social fields.

She credits her bicultural upbringing with her unique ability to weave together different cultural worlds and build international bridges.

This skill is now at the heart of her work, promoting Moroccan artists and designers through her cultural agency.
