Rabat – Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) have intensified their attacks across the occupied West Bank, launching multiple raids that have resulted in casualties, arrests, and widespread fear among Palestinian residents. This morning, a drone attack on the Tulkarem refugee camp caused several casualties, adding to the rising toll in the region.
Israeli forces stormed Birzeit University, located north of Ramallah, where they confiscated “properties and publications” associated with student activities, according to Al Jazeera.
The raid is part of a broader crackdown that has seen Israeli forces targeting various areas across the West Bank. In Qalqilya, a young man was injured when Israeli soldiers opened fire during a raid.
Further south, in the town of az-Zawiya near Salfit, Israeli forces used bulldozers to demolish two homes. Meanwhile, in Hebron, five people were arrested in the towns of Idhna and Beit Ummar as part of the ongoing raid.
The Palestinian Prisoner’s Club reports that since last evening, 22 people, including former prisoners, have been arrested across the West Bank. The arrests are part of an intensified campaign that has now entered its seventh day, during which at least 30 Palestinians have been killed.
Tragedy in Tulkarem
The situation in Tulkarem has been particularly dire. According to Nida Ibrahim of Al Jazeera, reporting from the occupied West Bank, Israeli forces have repeatedly raided the area, leaving the streets deserted as residents stay indoors in fear.
This morning, a 14-year-old boy was shot dead by Israeli forces while on his way to the mosque with his father for prayers, she reported. The boy was shot in the neck, while his father sustained a gunshot wound to the abdomen. “This is telling Palestinians that snipers are sometimes shooting to kill,” Ibrahim said.
Following the drone attack, Israeli forces raided Tulkarem and imposed a curfew on the refugee camp, restricting movement in and out of the area. Footage verified by Al Jazeera showed Israeli military vehicles and bulldozers patrolling the streets.
Adding to the growing tension, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday displayed a map during a news conference that highlighted the Gaza Strip but omitted the border of the occupied West Bank. This move has been criticized as an attempt to erase the West Bank’s existence as Palestinian territory.
