Doha – Rachid Fellouli, president of the Moroccan Initiative for Support and Victory, stated on Sunday that non-governmental organizations and associations in Morocco have organized 5,000 demonstrations in solidarity with the Gaza Strip, which has faced an ongoing genocide since October 7.
Fellouli made these comments during a meeting held by the Moroccan Initiative (affiliated with the Movement for Unity and Reform) in the capital Rabat under the title “Forming Cadres on the Palestinian Issue (Al-Aqsa Storm Brigade),” as reported by Anadolu Agency.
“The active national bodies defending the Palestinian cause in the country have organized 5,000 solidarity demonstrations with the Gaza Strip since the Palestinian resistance launched Operation Al-Aqsa Storm on October 7, 2023, in response to the Israeli occupation and settler aggression in Jerusalem, the West Bank, and within Palestine,” Fellouli was quoted as saying.
He spoke about October 7, detailing that Palestinian factions, most notably Hamas, attacked 11 military bases and 22 settlements bordering Gaza, killing and capturing Israelis in response to “the occupation’s daily crimes against the Palestinian people and their holy sites, especially Al-Aqsa Mosque.”
In regards to the Moroccan demonstrations, Fellouli said that the Movement’s efforts “included organizing solidarity stands and marches at an average rate of one event per day since October 7.”
He affirmed that Morocco is “one of the Arab countries where support events for the Palestinian cause have not stopped, alongside Yemen and Jordan,” and further pointed out that the Moroccan people are “among the peoples who most continue to show solidarity with the Palestinian people without interruption.”
With continuous momentum, many cities throughout the country, including the capital Rabat, are witnessing solidarity stands with the Palestinian people, especially on Fridays of each week, in which participants demanded an end to the Israeli war on Gaza and the termination of Morocco’s ties with Israel.
Morocco’s National Action Group for Palestine previously launched “Al-Aqsa Mosque Week” on the 55th anniversary of the burning of Al-Aqsa on August 21, 1969, under the title: “Resistance and storm against occupation and aggression, until the overthrow of normalization and the liberation of Palestine and the homelands.”
Since the start of its genocide on Gaza, Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF), with America’s support, have injured at least 94,153 and killed 40,738 Palestinians, with many more presumed dead missing under the rubble from bombardments.
Additionally, the Israeli occupation has imposed a suffocating blockade on Gaza and systematically targeted health facilities, vital infrastructure, and displaced persons camps.
In contempt of the international community, Israel continues bombardment of Gaza, ignoring the UN Security Council’s resolution to halt the violence immediately and the orders of the International Court of Justice to prevent acts of genocide and improve the catastrophic humanitarian situation in the besieged enclave.
