Doha – Rachid Hamouni, head of the Progress and Socialist Party in the House of Representatives, submitted on Tuesday a written question to the Minister of Foreign Affairs regarding measures to facilitate the return of Moroccan citizens to their homeland given the deteriorating security conditions in Lebanon.
In his question, Hamouni noted that Israel’s recent escalation of its attacks on Lebanese territory poses a serious threat to peace in the entire region, in parallel with its ongoing aggression in the occupied Palestinian territories, especially in Gaza.
Israeli forces have in recent days launched intense airstrikes on several cities and regions in Lebanon, resulting in civilian deaths and injuries as well as the destruction of residential areas.
As a result of this dangerous security situation, Moroccan citizens residing in Lebanon, especially in cities targeted by the raids, naturally feel anxious and fearful for their safety and that of their accompanying family members.
This has prompted many of them to appeal to the Moroccan government to assist them in safely returning to their homeland, either through exceptional flights or any other possible and secure means.
Some have expressed their inability to afford the costs of the few remaining flights amid cancellations by many international airlines due to the deteriorating security conditions.
Hamouni requested that the Foreign Minister provide information on the measures his department has taken to schedule and organize operations to ensure the return of Moroccan citizens from Lebanon to their home country.

The MP stressed that the government has a solemn obligation to intervene and help put an end to the suffering and panic of Moroccans in Lebanon in light of the difficult circumstances that the country is facing as Israel escalates its aggression.
The security situation in Lebanon has rapidly worsened in recent days as Israel launched a major military offensive, conducting widespread airstrikes across the country.
The latest waves of Israeli bombardments have killed at least 569 people, including 50 children, according to Lebanon’s Health Ministry, and displaced tens of thousands of civilians fleeing the violence.
Regional leaders have condemned Israel’s attacks, warning they are putting the region on the brink of a devastating all-out war. Meanwhile, Hezbollah has retaliated with rocket and missile attacks into northern Israel.
Amid the escalating conflict, many countries are working to evacuate their citizens from Lebanon to ensure their safety.
