Morocco’s Justice and Development Party (PJD) has extended its heartfelt condolences to Hamas over the killing of the group’s chairman Yahya Sinwar.
In a statement, PJD’s leader Benkirane Benkirane said while the party is “filled with sorrow” at the loss of Sinwar, it is proud and grateful for his contributions to the Palestinian cause.
“While we are filled with sorrow at the loss of this remarkable leader and warrior, we simultaneously feel pride and gratitude for what he and his brothers in Hamas and the Al Qassam Brigades have contributed to the Palestinian cause, and for the legendary resilience of the Palestinian people and their resistance to Zionist arrogance and its criminal machine,” PJD leader said.
He also reiterated condemnation of the US and Western support for the Israeli genocide in Gaza.
For PJD, the killing of Sinwar will not “halt the path of struggle and jihad towards the liberation of Palestine, Jerusalem, and Al Aqsa, and the restoration of inalienable Palestinian rights.”
Khalil Al-Hayya, the Head of Hamas in Gaza, confirmed Sinwar’s killing in a statement today.
“With all the meanings of pride, dignity, and honor, the Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas mourns to our Palestinian people, to our entire nation, and to the free people of the world a man among the noblest and bravest of men,” the Hamas leader said.

On Thursday, the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) announced that it had killed Sniwar alongside two other Hamas members during an operation in Gaza.
Born in a Khan Younis refugee camp, Sinwar was a prominent figure in Hamas. His killing came amid Israeli genocidal war targeting civilians since October last year.
The IOF have killed over 42,438 Gazans and injured 99,246 others since launching their genocidal war on the Palestinian enclave.
Many thousands more are dead under the rubble, converging reports by UN bodies and international human rights groups have deplored.
Israel’s killing spree targeting Hamas leaders has sparked outrage across the world, including in Morocco.
Earlier this month, on October 6, thousands of people gathered in Rabat to march in solidarity with Palestine and Lebanon.
During the march, many protesters held pictures of slain Hamas leaders, including Ismail Haniyeh who was killed in July.
PJD members have taken part in many such protests and demonstrations in recent weeks, denouncing the ongoing war on Palestine and calling on the Moroccan government to sever diplomatic ties with Israel.
Last week, PJD reiterated its rejection of Israel’s relentless genocidal campaign in Gaza, extending its gratitude to citizens who participated in the October 6 march in Rabat.
It also renewed its call to Arab and Muslim countries to be bolder and more determined in their support of Gaza and Lebanon.
