Air France-KLM Appoints Nadia Azale to Lead North Africa and Sahel Region

Rabat — Air France-KLM has appointed Nadia Azale as General Manager for the North Africa, Sahel, and West Coast regions, effective October 1.

Based in Casablanca, Azale will oversee operations in 12 countries, including Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, and several West African nations, as the airline group sharpens its focus on expanding regional operations and fostering closer local partnerships.

With nearly two decades of experience at Air France-KLM, Azale brings a wealth of knowledge to her new role.

She began her career with the airline in 2005 at Paris’ Charles de Gaulle Airport, progressing through commercial roles that emphasized strategic pricing and distribution across Africa, the Middle East, and Europe.

Her career has included several prominent positions, each broadening her expertise and reinforcing Air France-KLM’s market strategy.

Azale’s first leadership role was as Commercial Director for North Africa and the Sahel, based in Casablanca, where she played a key role in establishing the airline’s commercial directorate for the region.

Her innovative approach to sales and market development gained recognition, and she was soon appointed as Sales Director for Italy, overseeing the airline’s market segmentation and performance across the country.

Returning to Paris in 2021, Azale took on the role of NDC Change Management Strategy Director, where she spearheaded the airline’s transition to a new distribution model aimed at enhancing indirect sales channels.

This role demonstrated her skill in change management and strategic planning, making her a natural fit for the expansive responsibilities she will now take on in North Africa and the Sahel.

Azale expressed her excitement about leading operations in North Africa, the Sahel, and West Coast Africa, noting that the region “holds vast potential.”

She added that she looks forward to working with her team to “enhance the travel experience for our customers” and to strengthen partnerships across these markets.

Azale’s appointment comes at a time of increased emphasis on regional management within the airline industry, as companies adapt to post-pandemic market shifts by focusing on localized strategies.

With an eye on both customer loyalty and market expansion, Air France-KLM is positioning itself to respond to the specific needs of the North African and West African markets, where demand for air travel is rebounding.

Her educational background, including a senior leadership program at HEC Paris, has further prepared her for this high-profile role.

She also holds a master’s degree in engineering from Ecole Nationale des Travaux Publics de l’Etat, which has enriched her analytical approach to strategic leadership and market development.
