Rabat – Tetouan’s football club has announced that Raja Casablanca fans will not be allowed to attend their away match on Saturday, November 9. The decision follows a meeting held by the club’s organizing committee and was confirmed in an official statement.
The match will take place at Saniya Raml Stadium in Tetouan at 8:00 p.m. local time for Round 10 of the Botola Pro 1 Inwi. However, only local fans will be allowed in, with no tickets issued to Raja supporters.
This decision is linked to security concerns, as both teams have had issues in the past with fan violence. Last season, violence erupted in the vicinity of the stadium leading to the arrest of 29 people, including minors, and damaged property.
According to security sources, the unrest began when some Raja supporters attempted to force their way into the stadium despite it being at capacity.
As a result, several individuals were detained for acts of violence, the destruction of police vehicles and injuring 20 police officers. The individuals reportedly were carrying drugs, knives, , c and resisting arrest.
In response, the Moroccan Football Federation’s disciplinary committee handed down severe penalties to Raja Casablanca. The club played four matches behind closed doors and fined MAD 50,000 ($5,000).
Tetouan currently sits in second-to-last place in the league with just six points, and will host Raja, who are 11th with 12 points after drawing their last three games and failing to score a single goal.
