Rabat– Three young men from influential Moroccan business families have been placed in police custody following a rape accusation filed by one of their friends, according to Le360.
The incident involves Kamil B., M’hamed El A., and Saad S., who are accused of raping the fiancée of Mohamed A.N., a senior executive at an employers’ organization. The alleged victim, a young French lawyer, has since returned to France.
The case has drawn significant attention in Casablanca’s social circles, particularly given the connections of the accused, who come from prominent business families. The complaint was filed after Mohamed A.N., who had been planning to marry the alleged victim, reported the incident to the police. He accuses his friends of assaulting his fiancée during a party at one of the accused’s homes.
What has made the case particularly complicated is the fact that the complainant, Mohamed A.N., is Kamil B.’s cousin. He alleges that Kamil was the primary instigator of the alleged assault, describing it as rape.
However, Kamil B. has denied the allegations, asserting to have had a “consensual” sexual encounter with the French woman but refuting any claims of rape. The two other suspects, including the son of a high-ranking official from a prominent employers’ organization, have also backed Kamil’s version of events, claiming that they had no sexual involvement with the alleged victim.
Currently, the accounts of the complainant and the accused remain in sharp contrast, and the investigation is ongoing.
If the alleged victim decides to return to Morocco to testify, the investigation could take a significant turn, potentially accelerating the legal process.
As of now, the three men remain in police custody in Casablanca while authorities continue to investigate the case. The outcome of the investigation and any potential charges remain uncertain, as both sides prepare to present their respective versions of events.
