Achraf Hakimi is widely considered one of the best right-backs in the world, with legions of fans and observers frequently applauding his performances while drawing attention to the stellar journey he is having and the impressive number of trophies he has won in a career that is still on the ascendancy.
Sports-focused website Foot Boom recently featured the spectacular journey of the Moroccan right-back, describing him as “more than just a right-back.”
During the season 23/24, Hakimi scored 5 goals and delivered 6 assists in 32 games. These statistics show his offensive contribution as a defender, leading observers to describe as a full-package player.
The Moroccan right-back has also won this season the Ligue 1 trophy and La Coupe de France with Paris-Saint-Germain and reached the Champions League semi-finals.
Foot Boom’s feature also emphasized that the PSG player is the third highest scoring defender in Europe’s five major leagues, namely England’s Premier League, LaLiga in Spain, Germany’s Bundesliga, and France’s Ligue 1.
The right-back ranks third with a total of 18 offensive contributions, including 7 goals and 11 assists.
Foot Boom also recalled that the PSG defender has been nominated as one of the five candidates for the 2024 African Player of the Year award.
The football player, however, did not win the trophy and the prize went to Nigeria’s Ademola Lookman.
His defeat to Lookman caused disappointment among Moroccans, who believed he deserved it owing to his performances with both PSG and Morocco’s national team.
