Rabat – The École des Arts et Métiers (EARM) Campus of Rabat welcomed approximately 200 second-year preparatory students from across Morocco today for an immersive open-day event.
The visit offered prospective students a comprehensive overview of the institution’s facilities, academic programs, and practical workshops.
Mehdi Sebti, Director of Arts et Métiers Campus of Rabat, presented the rich heritage and mission of the institution, explaining how the school shapes students’ future.
In an interview with Morocco World News (MWN) on the sidelines of the event, he explained that “Arts et Métiers is a unique engineering school with nearly 250 years of history, founded in France in 1780 during the First Industrial Revolution.”
Sebti added: “Our name reflects the duality of our approach – ‘Arts’ representing applied sciences and ‘Métiers’ emphasizing industrial practice.”
The school’s group, which educates approximately 6,000 students including 5,000 engineering students across its network, opened its Rabat campus in 2023.
Its international network, spanning eight campuses in France plus the Rabat location, provides students with opportunities for exchange programs and research projects.
A strong partnership with the Moroccan government, particularly the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, facilitated the school’s launch in Morocco. The campus became fully operational with its own teaching, research, and innovation building within UM6P in September 2024.
During today’s visit, current engineering students guided visitors through various Arts et Métiers facilities, providing hands-on experience with the different industrial types of equipment they would be exposed to during their program.
Meanwhile, two of the school’s teaching staff, including Professor Imane Ait Oumghar, demonstrated the modeling equipment used in the program. In particular, they explained the 3D simulation methods that future engineers learn during their studies.
Speaking to MWN, Ait Oumghar said that Arts et Métiers blends theory and practice to provide hands-on knowledge that would allow students to thrive in their professional lives, equipping them with the required tools to overcome future challenges.
“The school’s distinctive approach combines technical and analytical laboratories, integrating both aspects into student projects,” she said.

The open day visit featured extensive interactions between visitors and current students, who shared insights about campus life, coursework, workshops, and career prospects.
One engineering student enthusiastically demonstrated ongoing experiments, pointing to the vitality of teamwork in engineering education while providing an example from an experiment he and his classmates conducted.
Visitors engaged in detailed discussions about the program’s unique blend of theoretical knowledge and practical application, reflecting the institution’s commitment to producing pragmatic engineers.
“Our ambition in Rabat is to train hands-on engineers and managers capable of leading teams in sectors such as energy, transportation, construction, and various other industries,” Sebti explained.
“We place a strong emphasis on incorporating environmental and societal challenges into our training programs. Tomorrow’s engineer must master solid scientific skills while meeting growing environmental and social constraints.”
A distinguishing feature of Arts et Métiers is its practical training approach, utilizing industrial-scale equipment. The institution holds accreditation from both Moroccan authorities and the French Commission des Titres d’Ingénieur (CTI), offering graduates international recognition of their qualifications.
Students-visitors of the open day showed a positive impression of the school, saying they would love to enroll in the inspiring program after succeeding in the National Common Exam (CNC).
The one-day event demonstrated how the École Arts et Métiers Campus of Rabat combines excellence in engineering education with modern technological advances and sustainable development considerations.
At the heart of the school’s vision is the urgency of preparing the next generation of engineers for the challenges of tomorrow.
