Rangers’ new manager, Barry Ferguson, has confirmed Moroccan coach Issam Charaï will stay on in the club’s revamped coaching staff, following the sacking of Philippe Clement. Charaï is the only member of the former staff to keep his role and will take part in the rebuild.
Charaï, who made his name guiding Morocco’s U23 team to a historic Africa Cup of Nations win in Morocco back in 2023, will now be part of Ferguson’s team to turn Rangers’ season around.
Speaking to the club’s official site, Ferguson said: “We spent time together, just me and Issam, talking about the players and how I want to manage. He’ll need to adjust, but he’s motivated, and that’s exactly what I want.”
Currently sitting in second place in the Scottish Premiership with 56 points, Rangers trail Celtic by 13 points. Now, Ferguson faces the uphill battle to close the gap with a team that includes the Moroccan striker Hamza Igamane.

Rangers face a tough test in the Europa League Round of 16 against Turkish giants Fenerbahçe, led by the two Moroccans Youssef En-nesyri and Sofyan Amrabat.
The first leg is set for March 6.
