Hamas: ‘Israeli Bombing Could Kill its hostages in Gaza’

The Israeli resurgence of genocide on Gaza is wiping out what remains from the pre-first phase of the ceasefire.

Rabat – Hamas has said Israel will eventually get its hostages killed if it tries to get them from Gaza by force.

“Every time the occupation attempts to retrieve its hostages by force, it ends up bringing them back in coffins,” the Palestinian group said in a statement on its Telegram channel.

Hamas also noted that it’s doing the best to keep Israeli hostages alive, but that Israel’s random bomb strikes on Gaza put their lives at stake.

The statement blamed the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for failing the Gaza truce, calling on the international community and mediators to pressure the Israeli leader to stop the genocide and get back on track with the negotiations.

It also noted that Netanyahu is lying to himself and the Israeli people by promising the hostages’ families that the raids and airstrikes are the way to bring back their loved ones alive.

In response, Israel’s prime minister warned Hamas that its refusal to release the hostages will eventually push him to seize territory in Gaza.

Speaking at the Knesset, the Israeli parliament, Netanyahu said: “To my colleagues … I say it to Hamas as well: This includes the seizure of territories, along with other measures I will not elaborate here. The more Hamas persists in its refusal to release our hostages, the stronger the pressure we will exert.”

These latest developments come a week after Israel resumed its genocidal war on Gaza, breaching the US-brokered truce with attacks on civilians in the Palestinian enclave.

Israel’s resumption of its bombing campaign has killed over 750 civilians and injured 1,400 others, mainly women and children.

In addition to its indiscriminate airstrikes, Israel has also been using food and water as a weapon to get Gazans to leave their territory, aligning with its broader vision of the forcible displacement of Palestinians.

The situation in Gaza is getting worse as the United Nations Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) is calling for immediate action to stop the genocide.

The UN agency deplored the situation in a post on X, reporting that “bodies remain under the rubble of destroyed structures and doctors describe how ‘many injured people have died in front of our eyes while we couldn’t treat them.’”

A statement from Gaza’s Government Media Office also reported that 85% of the enclave’s population does not have access to basic food items as Israel has stopped humanitarian aid entry.

According to the local office, Israel has destroyed 719 water wells, leaving over 90% of the population without access to a source of clean water.
