Rabat – The plane accident that occurred near Fez-Saiss Airport earlier today was caused by the aircraft veering off the runway during its landing attempt, authorities revealed.

Initial reports suggested that the incident was a result of a crash, but civil protection services said that the plane was unable to stay on course at the end of the runway, leading to the accident.

The small private plane, an H25B model, suffered significant damage as it went off the landing strip.

The three crew members on board, who were all injured, have since been transferred to the hospital for treatment. The plane was empty of passengers at the time of the incident.

The Ministry of Transport and Logistics is expected to provide further information as investigations into the cause of the plane’s deviation from the runway continue, SNRT News reported.

Fez emergency response teams were quick to secure the area and prevent additional risks after the accident. Videos shared online showed rescue teams inspecting the aircraft, which appeared to be heavily damaged.
