Rabat – King Mohammed VI addressed a message to Moroccan pilgrims performing the Hajj pilgrimage this year, 1446 AH. The message was read by the Minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, Ahmed Toufiq, during a ceremony marking the departure of the first group of pilgrims from Rabat-Salé airport on Wednesday.
The King congratulated the pilgrims for being able to perform Hajj and asked God to accept their prayers and bring them back safely. “I share your feelings as you yearn to visit these Holy Sites,” said the Monarch.
King Mohammed VI reminded the pilgrims of the spiritual importance of Hajj and urged them to prepare themselves physically and spiritually. “This is the responsibility of each one of you… only patience, remembrance of God, humility and piety can help,” he said.
The monarch also called on pilgrims to respect the teachings of Islam and behave with dignity, patience, and solidarity. He asked them to follow the instructions of the Moroccan authorities and the rules set by Saudi Arabia to ensure a smooth and safe pilgrimage.
King Mohammed VI thanked Saudi Arabia’s King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for their efforts in organizing the Hajj and caring for pilgrims.
The Monarch reminded the pilgrims that they are also representing Morocco abroad and should reflect the values of their country, including unity, moderation, and respect. He called on them to pray for Morocco’s well-being, for the Royal Family, and for the continued progress of the country.
“I therefore expect you to be ambassadors for your country and preserve this bright cultural image. Keep in mind that it is these incontrovertible values which have enabled our country to continue to enjoy security and stability, and to press ahead,” the King said.
The message ended with the King wishing the pilgrims an accepted Hajj and a safe return home.
