Rabat — Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Sunday that his country is open to an agreement with Hamas that would include an end to the unfolding genocide in Gaza.
The statement marks a potential shift in the 19-month assault on the Palestinian enclave.
A statement from his office indicated that Netanyahu attached significant conditions to any deal, insisting it must include the “exile” of Hamas leadership and the complete “disarmament” of Gaza.
These comments follow the Israeli military’s announcement that it was intensifying both air and ground operations in Gaza.
Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) have recently intensified their genocidal offensives on the enclave, raising the pretext of securing the release of Hamas-held Israeli hostages and wiping out the Palestinian group.
“The negotiating team in Doha is working to explore all possibilities for an agreement,” Netanyahu’s office noted.
The potential agreement should be achieved whether within the US envoy Steve Witkoff’s proposed framework or as part of what Israel calls “cessation of hostilities that would include the release of all hostages, the exile of Hamas ‘terrorists,’ and the disarmament of Gaza.”
While Israel intensified its military operations on Saturday, Hamas announced it would resume indirect negotiations with Israel in Qatar “without preconditions.”
This apparent openness to negotiation contrasts with Netanyahu’s government approval in early May of a plan to “conquer” Gaza and relocate almost 50% of its population, which seemed to rule out further talks.

IOF’s increased assaults have drawn international condemnation and criticism. Italy’s Prime Minister Meloni has described the inhumane situation in Gaza as “unjustifiable.”
Meanwhile, French President Emmanuel Macron is planning to officially recognize Palestine as early as June 2024, while describing Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza as a “shame.”
International organizations have also consistently criticized Israel’s demonic weaponization of food and humanitarian aid blockade against Gazan civilians.
On Sunday, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) warned against the deteriorating situation in Gaza after two months of Israel’s denial of humanitarian aid entry to the enclave.
Palestinian health authorities have reported the killing of at least 67 Palestinians and injuries to 361 others in Gaza over the last 24 hours due to the IOF’s ongoing genocidal assaults.
The world is silently watching an ethnic cleansing in Gaza while Israel’s Netanyahu is playing the game of war and putting off serious negotiations that would bring peace and stability to the region.
