Doha – FC Barcelona will play a friendly match in Casablanca, Morocco, on August 7, sandwiched between their Asian tour and the Joan Gamper Trophy. The match will come after FC Barcelona’s preseason tour of Japan and South Korea, and just three days before their return to Spotify Camp Nou for their presentation to fans.
According to Mundo Deportivo, FC Barcelona initially received a “juicy offer” to play in Casablanca on July 20, as reported on June 6. However, the club has since rescheduled the friendly for August 7, as confirmed in today’s updated information, following discussions between club management, the sporting director, and head coach Hansi Flick.
The Catalan giants will begin their second season under Hansi Flick on July 13, when players will undergo medical examinations. Training sessions at the Ciutat Esportiva in Sant Joan Despí will commence the following day, July 14.
After ten days of preparation in Barcelona, the team will fly to Japan to begin a 12-day Asian tour featuring three friendly matches. The first match will be played on July 27 against Vissel Kobe at Noevir Stadium, helping the Japanese club celebrate its 30th anniversary.
The squad will then travel to South Korea for two additional friendlies. On July 31, Barça will face FC Seoul at the World Cup Stadium in Seoul, followed by a match against Daegu FC at the local team’s stadium on August 4.
The Asian tour is expected to generate approximately ten million euros for the club. After returning to Barcelona and resting on August 5, the team will prepare for the Casablanca friendly on August 7, as revealed in today’s report. The news outlet did not specify which Moroccan club FC Barcelona will face in Casablanca.
FC Barcelona’s preseason will culminate with the Joan Gamper Trophy at Spotify Camp Nou on August 10, with Como likely to be the opponent. This match will mark the team’s official presentation to their fans before the new season begins.
The club’s market value has increased significantly following their impressive treble last season, winning La Liga, Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup in Saudi Arabia in January. This success has made FC Barcelona an attractive proposition for exhibition matches worldwide.
