Rabat — Morocco’s Directorate General of Meteorology (DGM) forecasts that hot weather will persist across several regions of the country on Sunday.
The plains west of the Atlas Mountains, eastern areas, southeastern regions, and the country’s south will experience relatively high temperatures.
Dense low clouds will form along the Atlantic Ocean coastlines and in the northwestern parts of the southern provinces during morning and nighttime hours. The DGM expects that these clouds may bring very light raindrops or create foggy conditions in coastal areas.
Weather officials also forecast low clouds to continue spreading over the northwestern sections of the southern provinces.
Moderate to strong wind gusts will affect Morocco’s central coastlines, southern parts of the eastern region, and southern coastal areas.
Minimum temperatures will vary significantly across the country. The Atlas Mountains and Rif regions will see the coolest conditions, with overnight lows between 12°C and 17°C.
The country’s southeastern regions and southern provinces will experience warmer nights, with temperatures ranging from 22°C to 27°C.
Other parts of the country will see minimum temperatures between 16°C and 22°C.
Daytime temperatures will rise in the southeastern regions, far southeastern areas, and northern parts of the southern provinces. The remaining areas across Morocco will see stable temperatures or slight decreases during the day.
Maritime conditions will vary along Morocco’s coastlines. The Mediterranean coast will experience light to rough seas. The Strait of Gibraltar will remain calm to slightly rough. Waters between Safi and Tarfaya will be rough to very rough, while other coastal areas will see conditions ranging from light to rough seas.
