Rabat — Moroccan international Hamza Igamane could not have asked for a better start to his LOSC Lille career.
The 22-year-old Moroccan striker scored twice in his Ligue 1 debut, helping his new team demolish Lorient 7-1 away from home on Saturday.
Igamane signed his five-year contract with Lille just 24 hours before taking the field for the third matchday of the French Ligue 1 season. The former Glasgow Rangers forward wasted no time showing why Lille invested heavily in his services.
The young striker came off the bench in the second half and found the net twice in the final stages of the match.
He scored Lille’s fourth goal in the 80th minute before adding the sixth in stoppage time (90+3). The new-comer’s clinical finish helped the club complete a commanding performance that sent a clear message to the rest of Ligue 1.
The Moroccan international’s double gave Lille fans an early glimpse of the striker’s impressive goal-scoring threat and natural finishing skills.
The convincing victory represents Lille’s second win of the new season, adding to one draw from their opening three matches. The result temporarily lifts them to second place in the Ligue 1 table as they build positive momentum for what promises to be a busy campaign.
Igamane’s quick adaptation will prove crucial for Lille’s European ambitions, especially as his first game’s immediate impact suggests he can provide the goal-scoring punch the club needs across all competitions.
The striker’s impressive debut comes at the perfect time for his international career. Morocco national team coach Walid Regragui has called up Igamane for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers.
Morocco will face Niger on September 5 in Rabat before traveling to Lusaka to play Zambia three days later.
Lille has secured Igamane’s services until 2030, demonstrating their long-term belief in the young striker’s potential. His immediate impact reflects the club’s smart investment in a player who can contribute right away while continuing to develop over the coming years.
