Rabat — The Ministry of Health and Social Protection announced its commitment to hire all nursing graduates and health technicians from higher institutes by the end of 2025 or early 2026 at the latest.
Ministry officials made this pledge during a meeting on Tuesday at the ministry headquarters in Rabat.
The Human Resources Directorate held the meeting, bringing together representatives from the National Health Union under the Moroccan Labor Union, along with graduate representatives.
Union calls for automatic job placement
National Health Union representatives stressed the urgent need to link training programs directly to automatic employment.
They explained that when the ministry first announced hiring competitions, it included a “ministerial commitment” to make these competitions a formality and guarantee jobs for all graduates.
“This principle has not been honored by successive governments, which has led to unemployment among generations of nursing staff for years,” the union said in a statement.
Training expansion creates new challenges
The ministry has adopted policies to strengthen human resources and fill the large shortage in the health sector, particularly among nurses and health technicians.
Officials have more than doubled the number of training places and created new specializations.
However, graduates still face unemployment despite these expansions. The union pointed to the need to match new training places with available financial positions for hiring.
The ministry responds to staff shortages
This commitment comes as Morocco’s health sector faces significant staffing shortages.
The ministry’s promise to hire all qualified nursing graduates and health technicians represents a major policy shift aimed at addressing these critical gaps in healthcare staffing.
Meanwhile, the meeting reflects ongoing dialogue between the ministry and health worker unions to resolve employment issues that have affected nursing graduates for several years.
