Rabat – The Marrakech Short Film Festival (MSFF) has announced the international jury for its fifth edition, which takes place from September 26 to October 1.
The jury brings together figures from across the film world whose expertise mirrors the global ambition of the event.
French-Moroccan actor Assaad Bouab was chosen as jury president. He is joined by Jane Kim, Producer of Industry Programming at the Toronto International Film Festival, and Rubén Corral, Head of Programming at ZINEBI Bilbao.
Their presence signals a commitment to thoughtful and diverse selection, giving weight to the festival’s competition.
A festival with global reach
While the jury will guide the heart of the competition, the festival also extends far beyond the judging process.
Organizers confirm partnerships with prestigious international platforms, including the Locarno Film Festival, TIFF, ZINEBI Bilbao, the Alexandria Short Film Festival, and La Luna Productions.
Marrakech will also welcome Waldemar Dąbrowski, former Minister of Culture in Poland and co-founder of the Polish Film Institute, in collaboration with the Polish Embassy.
From Spain, Digital Factory Studios joins the program through the International Incubator initiative supported by the Spanish Embassy.
This network of collaborations reinforces the event’s role as a space where Morocco and the world meet through cinema.
Screenings, thought-provoking discussions & more
Alongside screenings, the festival will stage public discussions and professional encounters, aiming to strengthen ties between Moroccan filmmakers and their international peers.
The event continues to define itself as more than a showcase, but as a platform for exchange rooted in the Marrakchi spirit of Behja – conviviality, openness, and artistic refinement.
Films will be shown in iconic venues including El Badii Palace, Cyber Park, the French Institute, The Folk, and the Star Center on Jemaa el-Fna, with more sites to follow.
As the city prepares to host the festival, attention now turns to the jury, whose decisions will shape the outcome of a competition that aspires to place Marrakech firmly on the map of world cinema.
