Rabat – Morocco’s Justice and Development Party (PJD) strongly condemned the Israeli air strikes on Doha, Qatar, which targeted leaders of the Palestinian movement Hamas. The strikes, carried out yesterday, hit a residential neighborhood in the Qatari capital, and drew sharp criticism internationally.
In an official statement, the PJD described the attack as a “cowardly and criminal act” that violated Qatar’s sovereignty and international law. The party stated that such attacks on an Arab and Islamic country represent a threat to the security of all nations in the region.
The statement also expressed full solidarity with Qatar and commended its diplomatic efforts to mediate and stop the ongoing genocide in Gaza. The PJD called on Arab and Islamic countries to take firm action, including reviewing or cutting ties with Israel, arguing that continued relations encourage further aggression and expansionist policies.
The PJD also expressed its admiration for the Palestinian resistance, recognizing their political and diplomatic sacrifices on the frontlines in defense of the Palestinian people, Jerusalem, and the Al-Aqsa Mosque. The party commended international solidarity efforts, particularly the participation of Moroccans in the International Convoy to Break the Siege of Gaza.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz defended the air strikes on Doha and called the attack “completely justified.” Qatar’s Foreign Ministry denounced the raids as a “criminal attack” and a “flagrant violation of all international laws and norms.”
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres condemned the attack, calling it a violation of Qatar’s sovereignty and urging all parties to focus on achieving a ceasefire in Gaza.
Governments across the region, including Jordan, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, and Morocco, also criticized Israel’s actions.
Other countries, including Russia, China, Italy, Switzerland, Portugal, and Belgium, also issued statements condemning the attack.
US President Donald Trump said he directed Special Envoy Steve Witkoff to warn Qatar ahead of the attack, but that the warning came too late. “This was a decision made by Prime Minister Netanyahu, it was not a decision made by me,” he said on Truth Social.
Trump added that bombing inside a sovereign ally’s territory, “that is working very hard and bravely taking risks with us to broker Peace, does not advance Israel or America’s goals.”
