Rabat — Morocco’s Red City of Marrakech, will host the 11th edition of CREMAI from September 19-23, bringing together Africa’s hospitality industry.
Since 2004, CREMAI has grown into the continent’s most significant trade show for culinary and hospitality professionals.
The event’s organizers expect this year’s edition to welcome over 750 national and international brands alongside more than 20,000 professional visitors.
The event aims to serve as a crucial business hub connecting Morocco with sub-Saharan Africa and European markets. It also provides an opportunity for Moroccan companies to expand their reach, while international participants discover solutions for rapidly evolving regional markets, I the organizers added.
Culinary competitions display excellence
The Carrefour des Chefs (Chefs’ Crossroads) anchors the exhibition with prestigious competitions. Official Chefs’ Competition (TOC) Africa will feature two major events under Royal Patronage: the Africa Baking Cup as well as the Africa and Middle East Women Chefs Cup — known as the Halima Morjane Trophy.
The event also will feature national competitions that include TOC Morocco, which identifies promising chefs for international competitions. This year adds a new pizzaiolo category alongside traditional pastry, international cuisine, and baking divisions.
The Rahal Trophy for Moroccan Gastronomy promotes research and innovation in the country’s culinary heritage, while the Omar Bravery and Perseverance Trophy honors individuals with special needs, symbolizing inclusion in the culinary arts.
Moroccan teams excel globally
Morocco has made numerous recent achievements reflecting the country’s culinary prowess. Moroccan teams currently hold African Champion titles at the Bocuse d’Or Africa, Africa Pastry Cup, and Africa Baking Cup. On the world stage, they secured sixth place at the World Baking Cup and 12th place at the World Pastry Cup.
Professional federations, the Chamber of Commerce of Marrakech-Safi, and CGEM Marrakech-Safi support the event, demonstrating CREMAI’s importance as a regional development driver.
Vision for 2030
CREMAI’s strategic vision through 2030 aligns with Morocco’s tourism development goals, focusing on elevating professional training standards while positioning Morocco and Africa as global culinary excellence centers.
This year’s theme, “Cultivating Tomorrow’s Hospitality Today,” reflects the event’s commitment to innovation and authenticity as Marrakech reinforces its status as the capital of Moroccan and African hospitality.
