Marrakech – Royal Air Maroc (RAM), the official global partner of the African Football Confederation (CAF), has announced a major transportation initiative to support the upcoming African Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 in Morocco.

The national carrier will add more than 660 supplementary flights, increasing its capacity by over 50% to accommodate the influx of football fans.

The announcement comes as part of RAM’s comprehensive strategy to facilitate the arrival of more than 500,000 supporters for the tournament. This information was confirmed by CAF during the launch of the ticket pre-registration phase for AFCON Morocco 2025.

The exceptional transportation plan includes several key components. RAM will double seat capacity on routes serving qualified countries already within its network, such as Dakar, Abidjan, Cairo, Tunis, Bamako, Lagos, and Douala.

Additionally, the airline will strengthen flight frequencies from European cities with large African diaspora communities, including Paris, Brussels, Milan, London, Marseille, Lyon, Madrid, and Barcelona.

A dedicated program for domestic air transport will also be established for national teams, shuttling them between their base camps and host cities throughout the tournament.

Special offers will be provided to the African diaspora transiting through Casablanca, turning these layovers into opportunities to attend matches.

This transportation initiative builds on the partnership announced in April, when RAM became an official global partner of CAF.

At that time, RAM’s Chairman and CEO Abdelhamid Addou had declared, “We believe we will surpass this figure [500,000 supporters] by far. We will be ready to accommodate these supporters across Royal Air Maroc’s entire network.”

The announcement coincides with the 100-day countdown to AFCON 2025. CAF and the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) have revealed that ticket sales will begin on September 25. Fans can pre-register online between September 12 and 24 to receive notifications when sales open.

Visa, CAF’s official partner and global digital payments leader, will benefit from an exclusive two-day presale period for Visa cardholders, from September 25 at 12:00 p.m. (Moroccan time) until September 27 at 12:00 p.m. General public sales will commence on September 27 at 2:00 p.m.

Another major innovation is the “Yalla” application, launching on September 25, which will serve as the access platform for all supporters. Each ticket holder must register on the app to obtain a Fan ID, which will be mandatory for stadium and fan zone access. The application will also offer a specially designed e-visa for AFCON, allowing supporters worldwide to apply online.

The 35th edition of the African Cup of Nations will take place in Morocco from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026, marking a significant milestone for Moroccan football and for RAM’s positioning as a key connector between Africa and Europe through its Casablanca hub.
