President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) Fouzi Lekjaa confirmed that Morocco is prepared to host a landmark edition of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in 2025.

FRMF chief made the statements during a recent interview with beIN Sports, outlining the country’s ambitious vision to host the AFCON 2025.

Lekjaa noted that Morocco’s preparation for this prestigious tournament is not the result of last minute efforts, but rather reflects decades of careful planning.

He attributed the country’s readiness to reforms initiated under King Mohammed VI and which date back to over 20 years of strategic investments and structural reforms.

The King’s vision, which focuses particularly on developing world-class sports infrastructure and nurturing football talent across the nation, is an ambitious long-term approach that now positions Morocco to deliver a “reference event” for future tournaments, Lekjaa noted.

Modern infrastructure meets African spirit

Six Moroccan cities are set to host the AFCON 2025, from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026, with each having a newly renovated or constructed stadium that is equipped with high-level facilities, making them rank among the most modern on the African continent.

Morocco also enjoys a comprehensive support system, as the country invested efforts in reinforcing an efficient logistics network, enhanced security measures, and hospitality services.

The North African country is setting ambitious targets to allocate facilities that meet international standards to welcome teams and fans from across Africa.

Lekjaa noted that this edition of the African tournament is more than just a sporting competition, as Morocco aims to make of the sporting event a moment of African unity in a spirit of brotherhood and shared celebration.

A continental celebration

The tournament represents Morocco’s commitment to elevating African football at its finest while demonstrating the country’s capacity to host major international events.

With its combination of modern infrastructure and traditional hospitality, Morocco seeks to set new standards for continental championships.

The 2025 tournament promises to display Morocco’s evolution as a sporting destination while honoring the rich traditions of African football that make the competition one of the continent’s most cherished events.
