Rabat – The President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), Fouzi Lekjaa, met on Thursday with Pedro Proença, President of the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF). The meeting in Rabat comes as Morocco, Portugal, and Spain continue their joint preparations to host the 2030 World Cup.
FRMF said in a statement that the Portuguese delegation expressed gratitude for the warm welcome they received from Lekjaa and his team. Both sides discussed a number of topics related to the organization of the 2030 World Cup, with focus on coordination between the three partner countries.
The visit also included a tour of key football facilities in Morocco. The Portuguese officials visited the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, which recently underwent major renovations to meet international standards. The stadium now has improved seating, upgraded security systems, and modernized facilities for players, referees, and fans.
They also toured the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Salé, considered one of the most advanced training centers in Africa. The complex features world-class pitches, medical and rehabilitation facilities, and residential areas for national teams.
Preparations for the 2030 World Cup are steadily moving forward. FIFA confirmed earlier this year that the opening match will take place in South America, while the rest of the tournament will be hosted in Morocco, Portugal, and Spain.
The three nations have expressed their commitment to delivering a historic event that celebrates cooperation across different regions of the world.
For Morocco, the 2030 World Cup is a chance to showcase its modern stadiums and infrastructure, as well as to strengthen its ties with Europe and the rest of the world.
