Rabat – Cosumar, Morocco’s leading sugar operator company, has announced the appointment of Imad Ghammad as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), succeeding Hassan Mounir, who is retiring due to health reasons.
The decision was made during a Board of Directors meeting chaired by Hicham Belmrah. The Board paid tribute to Hassan Mounir for his four decades of dedication to Cosumar and the Moroccan sugar industry. They also expressed hope that he will continue to advise the group in the future.
Imad Ghammad has been with Cosumar since 2006, holding several strategic positions.
He first joined the company as a Risk Management Manager, a position he held until 2010. He then became a member of the Management Committee and served as Director of Purchasing, Supply Chain, and Trading until 2023 when he was appointed Deputy CEO.
Ghammad played a key role in planning and executing major transformation projects at the company.
He began his studies in engineering at Université Paris 13, where he earned a degree in Materials Engineering from 1997 to 2000. He then specialized in elastomers and plastomers at Esica École Supérieure des Industries du Caoutchouc from 2000 to 2001.
Later, he completed a master’s degree in Audit, Management Control, and Global Risk Management at INSEEC in 2005-2006.
He started his professional career at EFJM from 2001 to 2005, gaining experience in research, studies, development, and innovations before joining Cosumar.
The Board extended its best wishes to the new CEO and assured him of its full support, said the company in a statement.

The company operates in five agricultural regions as well as in Casablanca and manages the full sugar value chain, from sourcing raw materials to distribution.
Recognized as an award-winning agricultural aggregator by the FAO, Cosumar is also considered a pioneer in corporate social responsibility (CSR) in Morocco, concluded the statement.
