Mohammedia – The building and public works sector in Morocco, known as BTP, has often been described as opaque and difficult to navigate. Finding reliable contractors, comparing material prices, and planning costs can be a challenge both for professionals and for individuals who want to build or renovate.

This is the space where Tachrone.ma has stepped in. Launched in June by co-founder Yazid Bahraoui and his partners, the platform quickly gained attention. In just a few months, it passed the milestone of one million visits, showing the strong demand for more clarity and reliability in the sector.

Bahraoui, who did not initially plan to create a technology company, came up with the idea after entering real estate development as an autodidact. His personal experience with the obstacles of the industry led him to imagine a solution that could centralize information and create trust.

“Our project was born from a real experience and a real need, even before being a business idea,” he said during an interview with Challenge, a Moroccan business and economy magazine.

More than a directory

At first glance, Tachrone.ma might look like a digital directory of construction companies. But its ambitions go further. The website offers detailed profiles of businesses, with photos of past projects, contact details, and links to social media.

A marketplace allows users to compare prices of building materials and services. There is also a construction cost simulator that helps people plan budgets more realistically. The team is preparing to add a collaborative forum where professionals and clients can share advice and experiences.

“Our ambition is clear: to simplify the life of those who build or renovate, and to give professionals a space where their know-how can be valued,” Bahraoui explained.

The platform is free to use. Its economic model relies on advertising and premium features for companies that want to gain more visibility. For now, it remains financed by its founders, but the team is seeking investors to speed up growth.

Beyond business, Tachrone.ma also carries a social vision. The Moroccan construction sector still depends heavily on informal workers, known as “ma’almin”. These artisans are often skilled but invisible in the formal economy. The platform aims to give them a digital showcase and gradually guide them toward professional recognition.

This commitment to openness extends to the marketplace as well. By displaying prices clearly, Tachrone.ma introduces a level of transparency that was previously rare in the sector. “We want to create a positive dynamic: more competitiveness, more clarity, and ultimately more trust,” Bahraoui said.

The startup is not limiting itself to Morocco. At Gitex Africa 2025, Tachrone.ma attracted international interest, showing its potential to expand across the continent. “Our goal is to become the reference platform for construction in Morocco, and then extend our presence in Africa, where the same challenges exist,” the co-founder explained.

For now, Tachrone.ma represents a new face of Moroccan entrepreneurship which is practical, innovative, and born from lived experience.
