Mohammedia – Ericsson and e& announced a multi-year agreement to upgrade e& UAE’s 5G Core Network at GITEX Global 2025. Through this partnership, network capabilities will be enhanced, and the UAE’s digital transformation objectives will be supported by the use of Ericsson’s cloud-native technologies.

The announcement underscores both businesses’ unwavering commitment to enhancing connectivity and laying the groundwork for the country’s upcoming digital services.

The agreement calls for the modernization of core network applications using Ericsson’s dual-mode 5G Core solution.

This comprises the Ericsson Secure Entitlement Server (SES), User Data Consolidation (UDC), IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS), and Unified Data Management (UDM). These apps will operate on a hybrid infrastructure that blends e&’s cloud with Ericsson’s Cloud Native Infrastructure Solution.

Through automation, software upgrades, and optimizations, this configuration guarantees stability, enabling the network to manage growing demand while preserving peak performance.

Driving innovation and enhanced connectivity across the UAE

A next-generation, cloud-native 5G core that provides incredibly fast, dependable, and secure connectivity customized to meet customer demands is getting closer to being fully deployed thanks to the modernization, as highlighted during GITEX Global 2025.

Applications like immersive gaming and mission-critical Internet of Things (IoT) services require low latency, consistent service quality, and highly personalized network offerings, all of which it will make possible.

Both individual users and companies that rely on fast, low-latency networks for sophisticated operations and services, are anticipated to gain from these changes.

The goal of the upgrade, according to Khaled Al Suwaidi, Senior Vice President of Core Networks and Platforms at e& UAE, is to make connectivity easier, quicker, and more dependable for all UAE citizens.

He claimed that it would speed up the rollout of new services, cut down on delays, and enhance call quality, all of which would be advantageous to different industries.

The improved network infrastructure is expected to support a variety of operations that require secure and reliable connectivity, from public services to smart industry solutions.

“The partnership reflects a shared commitment to support the UAE’s national vision for digital transformation and technology leadership,” said Petra Schirren, President of Ericsson Gulf at Ericsson Europe, Middle East, and Africa.

She stated that the agreement enables the high-performance, secure connectivity required to spur industry innovation and expedite new 5G use cases.

Ericsson’s ongoing investment in the telecom industry in the United Arab Emirates highlights the value of collaboration in ensuring a competitive and future-ready digital ecosystem, a commitment that was emphasized at GITEX Global 2025.

Ericsson and e& UAE are expanding a long-standing partnership that has been essential to the development of the country’s telecommunications infrastructure.

Deploying 4G and 5G networks and improving core network capabilities to increase connectivity and enable cutting-edge digital services throughout the United Arab Emirates, are just a few of the milestones they have accomplished together.

Earlier initiatives – like the 2020 5G UDM contract – demonstrated their ongoing commitment to innovation and technology, paving the way for the current upgrade.

Critical Internet of Things (IoT) applications and immersive gaming are among the new services that are anticipated to be made possible by the modernization of e& UAE’s 5G Core Network.

The upgraded network will make it easier to provide personalized and high-quality services by using cloud-native technologies, which will ensure fast, reliable, and secure connections tailored to customers’ needs.

Moreover, the rollout will help bring together new digital solutions that require very reliable networks and extremely low delays.

This collaboration between Ericsson and e& UAE highlights the value of robust network infrastructure in promoting innovation and bolstering the UAE’s vision for a connected and technologically advanced future. This is crucial as the country continues to establish itself as a leader in digital transformation.
